Sport Injuries
It's not only the professional athlete who requires professional treatment for sporting injuries.
Almost everyone can play some form of sport and doing regular exercise is great for your health and well-being. However, sometimes things don't go quite to plan.
Sport injuries can be minor or progressively worse to very serious.
For example, these are a few types of injuries that can be sustained:
- Cuts and bruises
- Sprains and strains
- Cartilage and ligament damage
- Fractures and broken bones
Sudden injury / traumatic injury
Caused by a sudden impact or an awkward movement
Overuse injury
Caused as a result of overuse over a longer period of time
All our Chartered Physiotherapists have worked with amateur and professional sports teams and are highly skilled and experienced in treating and managing acute sport injuries.
Techniques used range from:
- Joint and soft tissue manual therapy / release
- Therapeutic exercise
- Medical Acupuncture / dry needling
Dry needling is very effective for releasing taut bands and trigger points within muscles which can cause pain, stiffness and weakness and an overall decrease in performance.
The right treatment in the early stages of the injury can ensure a quick and full recovery. If left untreated possible adaptations can occur causing further problems in other areas of the body.
Don't delay getting the best treatment possible.
